Common Name: Anubias Congensis Broad

Anubias Congensis Broad variation is a tall Anubias whose dark green, oblong leaves make a handsome background plant for any aquarium. These hardy and resilient plants are excellent for beginner aquarists. The Anubias Congensis broad’s rhizomes can be attached to a rock, piece of driftwood, or other tank decoration. You can tie the plant down with thread or fishing line to encourage it to root in a specific spot. It is somewhat unusual to plant Anubias, but if you do make sure that the rhizomes are not buried as this will cause them to rot. This plant is also popular for bare-bottomed tanks, and can be grown either submersed or emersed. Anubias work very well with a variety of tank mates, and can survive even the most active and aggressive fish species.

Anubias Congensis broad plants prefer a tank with good water circulation. Since they are slow-growing they are prone to algae, especially under high light. These plants prefer low to moderate lighting. They can survive without CO2 injection, but will grow faster and larger with it. Anubias Congensis broad plants propagate through their rhizome system. If the plant is healthy it should produce side shoots from its rhizome, which you can remove and tie down. Given time and good conditions, it will produce roots eventually sprout into a full plant.
