**This is a terrestrial plant and it will not survive submerged in water.

Common name: Heterogonium Pinnatum

H. Pinnatum is a fern originating from rain forest in various parts of Southern Asia, growing near streams at low altitudes. The growth patterns of Heterogonium Pinnatum is very dimorphic and will vary depending on which life stage the plant is in. Sterile and fertile fronds are thin, averaging 10-15 inches long with a dark purple brown stripe. The leaves will also be thicker and more slender compared to younger plants. Young plants have a more compact appearance with leaves on the frond being wider and greener.

Not commonly seen in the scaping community, H. Pinnatum is a good plant for humid terrarium and paludarium set ups. This fern should not be submerged or in direct light, both of which may cause burning, melting, or even death of the plant.

Notes

  • This is not an aquarium plant. Submerging it completely will result in the death of this plant.
  • Heterogonium Pinnatum works well in terrarium-like setups and should be partially shaded with good humidity.
  • Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into quality soil.
  • Yellowing of leaves indicates over-watering.
  • Drying and browning leaves may indicate overexposure to light
