Common Name: Phoenix Moss
Fissidens fontanus is gorgeous, feathery aquatic moss that will add brightness and dimension to any planted tank. A newly discovered moss that hails from the USA, this plant is adaptable and virtually maintenance-free once it has taken root. While F. fontanus can survive in a variety of conditions, it prefers a lower temperature, around 77°F. Unlike other mosses, F. fontanus can be planted directly into the substrate, or will readily attach itself to an appropriate surface without the nuisance of frequent re-tying. This moss is a popular option for creating a natural look with rocks or driftwood.

I’ve has this in my tank a little over a month and am very pleased. It arrived in excellent condition and acclimated without die-off in a low light (~1 watt/gallon shallow tank) no supplement aquarium. I have purchased a number of fissidens from different suppliers and this is easily the best deal I’ve found. The coconut fiber mat does not float and is easily concealed in fine, sandy substrate. The fissidens has not detached from the mat and the leaves are thick and full.
Came healthy. Wasn't sure if i just leave it attached to the wood? It looks like it's attached with string. I have it sitting on a rock in my aquarium for now.
The Fissidens Fontanus is good, but needs a little time to recover fresh. As of today, almost ten days after i got it, lots of new leaves come out. It would be better if it was on driftwood.
Planned to order fissidens on steel mesh but they ran out of stock a few days before I ordered. Figured I'd take a chance on their fissidens on wood, wasn't sure what to expect since the item listing doesn't specify size. Turns out each piece of wood is about 3.5"x1.5", and coverage was really quite good. I can honestly say I got quite a lot of moss on the wood, more than I could have reasonably expected.
The Phoenix moss came in as pictured on a piece of driftwood. Not sure what to do with it just yet but love just having it grow in my spare tank
