Why do I need a heat pack for my plant order during cold months?

Please note that during periods of extreme temperatures, we will display a banner warning on our website. If no banner is shown, heat packs are not required. If a banner is displayed, we reserve the right to deny refunds for any DOA claims from customers who do not include heat pack(s) with their order in severely freezing conditions.

Aquatic plants thrive in temperatures between 50°F and 80°F. Exposure to freezing temperatures can seriously damage most plants, making recovery unlikely. While speedy shipping is the best way to protect your plants, adding a heat pack can help keep them warm long enough to arrive safely in your tank.

We know life happens, and sometimes you might not be home to bring your plant package inside immediately. If your local weather is below 50°F, we highly recommend adding a heat pack to ensure your plants stay healthy during transit.

  • Hot Tip: After placing your order, give your local FedEx, UPS, or USPS office a call and ask them to hold your package. This way, your plants won’t be left in extreme temperatures while waiting for delivery.
  • Looking for extra protection? Our Insulated Packaging Upgrade is now available! It helps reduce the chance of DOA and keeps your plants safe from both extreme heat and freezing temperatures.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not offer ice packs because ice packs melt, and the water can cause more harm than good. For more information, reach out to our support team at support@buceplant.com.
