If you are looking to build a layout that feels less like a quiet river scene and more like a rugged, ancient mountain range that time forgot, meet Dragon Wood. Named for its resemblance to Dragon Stone , this aquarium wood is the king of texture. It trades the smooth, predictable lines of standard driftwood for a chaotic, honeycomb-like structure packed with natural craters, deep crevices, and miniature tunnels. Use it to build high‑impact forest layouts or weathered riverbanks that have gone through a millennium of erosion. Dragon Wood will definitely scale your scape to new levels.
Product Features and Benefits
- The natural holes and tunnels aren't just for show! They provide vital hiding spots for shy species like Plecos and shrimp.
- Dragon Wood is an excellent choice for hobbyists looking to naturally lower their water's pH and hardness, creating a more acidic environment favored by many tropical fish.
- Ranging from deep earth browns to soft greys, the coloration of this wood will deepen and "mature" over time as it interacts with your water.

Preparation and Care
Because of its unique "holey" structure, Dragon Wood requires a slightly different approach than your standard log.
- Rinse: Those signature tunnels can sometimes trap dust or debris. Thoroughly rinse the piece to make sure it's clean.
- The Floating Phase: Dragon Wood is buoyant and will float initially. We recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged.
- Tannin Management: Like most aquarium driftwood, this will release tannins, giving your water a warm, "tea-colored" tint. This is a natural occurrence, and the effects will subside over time. If you prefer crystal-clear water, a 1–2 hour boil is the best way to fast-track the process. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag
Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1–2 hours to help release tannins.
