Ocean Blue Shrimp are a premium freshwater shrimp variety prized for their vibrant blue coloration and eye-catching patterns. Their bodies display varying shades of blue, ranging from light sky blue to deep navy, often accented by darker markings that create a unique appearance from shrimp to shrimp. Best suited for intermediate to advanced shrimp keepers, these Caridina thrive in mature aquariums with stable, soft water parameters and minimal fluctuations. Peaceful and active, they spend their days grazing on biofilm, algae, and microorganisms found on hardscape, substrate, and plant surfaces while adding constant movement and color to the aquarium.
Like other Caridina shrimp, Ocean Blue Shrimp prefer soft, slightly acidic water and are sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry. A well-established aquarium with plenty of mosses, botanicals, and natural grazing surfaces will help support long-term health and encourage natural behaviors. Their brilliant blue coloration contrasts beautifully against dark substrates, driftwood, and vibrant green aquatic plants, making them a standout addition to planted aquariums. Ideal for dedicated Caridina setups, shrimp-focused aquascapes, and hobbyists looking to showcase a unique and highly sought-after shrimp variety.

- pH: 5.8–6.2
- TDS: 100–120 ppm
- GH: 4-5
- KH: 0-1 (best if 0)

5+ gallons, minimum. Due to their specific water requirements, a 10-gallon or larger shrimp aquarium is recommended to help maintain the stable, acidic conditions they require.
Diet
Omnivorous. Ocean Blues are excellent scavengers that feed on biofilm, detritus, and algae. Supplement their diet with high-quality plant-based pellets, spirulina, and blanched vegetables. Adding porous hardscape like lava rock is highly beneficial, as it provides a massive surface area for the biofilm they love to graze on.
Breeding:
Ocean Blue Shrimp are a selectively bred Caridina variety derived from extensive line breeding projects focused on enhancing deep blue coloration and pattern consistency. Specimens may be offered at varying grades depending on the intensity, uniformity, and coverage of blue coloration, as well as the stability of the genetics within the breeding line.
Ocean Blue Shrimp do not breed true. Meaning one batch of eggs will likely produce shrimplets with varying shades of blue, pattern expression, and overall grade.
