Log Wood
Log Wood is a good choice for hobbyists looking to recreate a realistic forest floor or fallen timber look. Characterized by its long, straight profile and bark texture, this aquarium wood provides the structural help necessary for a convincing riverbend or woodland aquarium hardscape. Beyond its looks, Log Wood is an excellent functional choice for providing structural reinforcement or serving as a sturdy foundation in a planted tank.
Product Features and Benefits
- Functional Bark Texture: The natural, rough surface is not only visually striking but also provides the perfect base for aquatic mosses and epiphytic plants.
- Functional Foundation: Due to its uniform shape, Log Wood is often used as a hidden "scaffold" to support heavy stones or to create a terraced substrate effect for a planted aquarium hardscape.
- Safe and Natural: 100% aquarium-safe and chemical-free, this wood helps mimic the natural submerged environments where many freshwater species thrive.

Preparation and Care
Log Wood is a natural product and, much like a fallen tree in the wild, requires a little time to settle into its new home.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
- The Floating Phase: Log Wood is naturally buoyant and will float initially. To keep your logs from becoming adrift, we recommend soaking the wood thoroughly or placing a heavy weight on top until it becomes waterlogged.
- Tannin Management: Like most driftwood, this will release tannins, giving your water a warm, "tea-colored" tint. This is a natural occurrence, and the effects will subside over time. If you prefer crystal-clear water, a 1–2 hour boil is the best way to fast-track the process. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag
Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1-2 hours to help release tannins.
