Product Overview
Maintaining high humidity for tropical mosses, terrestrial epiphytes, and emergence zones in paludariums often requires more than passive water evaporation. The UNS Atomizer Mist Maker Kit uses ultrasonic vibrations to transform water into a dense, rolling fog, creating an authentic jungle atmosphere while supplying essential moisture to humidity-loving plants. Compact and easy to conceal behind hardscape, this quiet mist maker adds functional hydration and dramatic visual depth to aquaterrariums and paludariums.
Key Features & Benefits
- Ultrasonic Fogging Action: Produces fine, cool mist via high-frequency vibrations to boost enclosure humidity without raising water temperatures.
- Automatic Low-Water Protection: Built-in safety sensor automatically shuts off the unit when water drops below 0.5 inches to prevent overheating and dry burning.
- Splash Guard Protection: The included splash guard keeps water droplets contained within the tank while directing mist outward across your plants.
- Complete Maintenance Kit: Includes 3 replacement ceramic diffusion plates and a dedicated changing key for easy long-term maintenance.

- Unplug the unit from power before performing maintenance.
- Insert the diffusion plate key into the slots of the top retaining ring on the mist maker unit.
- Turn the key counterclockwise to unscrew and remove the retaining ring and worn diffusion plate.
- Insert the fresh diffusion plate. Note: Do not remove or disturb the rubber O-ring seated underneath the diffusion plate.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How deep should the UNS Atomizer be submerged in water?
The top of the mist maker's water sensor must be submerged at least 0.5 inches below the surface. If the water level drops too low, the mist maker will automatically power off to protect the internal ultrasonic disc from damage.
2. How do I know when it's time to change the ceramic diffusion plate?
When you notice a significant decrease in fog volume despite maintaining proper water levels, or if the disc shows severe mineral crusting, it is time to replace the diffusion plate using the included key.
3. Can I run the UNS Atomizer continuously on a timer?
Yes! Running the atomizer on a digital timer or smart plug (for example, 15 to 30 minutes several times a day) is an excellent way to maintain ideal humidity cycles for sensitive mosses, ferns, and tropical epiphytes without oversaturating your soil.

Q&A
- Hello, I want to use this atomizer in a terrestrial carnivorous plant terrarium. How would you recommend using it in that situation? I was thinking of placing it into a 12 oz deli cup and hiding that among the plants, but I'm not sure how frequently I would need to fill it. I plan to run it at half hour increments for a total of 6 to 12 hours per day. Any advice would be appreciated!
- Hello Justine, thank you for your question. You are able to use this atomizer in a terrestrial carnivorous plant terrarium. If using a small cup, you will have to refill often if they use a cup that small. We recommend to use the largest container of water that they can with the biggest surface area. If the surface area is small the water level will drop much faster since the water level needs to be at a certain level for it to actually produce the mist. We hope this helps! If there is any questions, please feel free to email us at support@buceplant.com for further details. Thank you, Team Buce Plant
- Minimum depth is .5”, but is there a maximum depth this can be placed and still be effective?
- Hi Greg, Thank you for reaching out to us, that is an excellent question. The maximum depth that the UNS Atomizer can be submerged in and still function effectively is 1 inch. If there is more than 1 inch of water over the atomizer, the unit will not be able to properly produce mist.
