Installation & Setup Instructions

1. Inspect the Unit: Check all components before installation to ensure the mist maker, splash guard, and power supply are intact.  If a part is missing or damaged, contact your Ultum Nature Systems dealer immediately.
2. Submerge to Proper Depth: Position the mist maker (and optional splash guard) in your water reservoir, ensuring the water sensor is submerged at least 0.5 inches below the surface. If not, the water sensor will detect if the water level is too low and shut off the atomizer.
3. Level Alignment: Verify the unit is resting level. If installed at an angle or tilt, water may splash or spray outside the tank during operation.
4. Connect Power: Plug the power cord jack into the unit and plug the power adapter into a wall outlet or timer.

Care & Maintenance Instructions

• Keep water clean and free of large organic debris to prevent buildup on the ceramic disk.
• Rinse the mist maker housing periodically with fresh tap water to clear mineral crusting.
• Store unused replacement diffusion plates in a dry place.

Ceramic Diffusion Plate Replacement Guide

1. Unplug the unit from power before performing maintenance.
2. Insert the diffusion plate key into the slots of the top retaining ring on the mist maker unit.
3. Turn the key counterclockwise to unscrew and remove the retaining ring and worn diffusion plate.
4. Insert the fresh diffusion plate. Note: Do not remove or disturb the rubber O-ring seated underneath the diffusion plate.
5. Place the retaining ring back on top of the new diffusion plate and tighten clockwise using the key until snug.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How deep should the UNS Atomizer be submerged in water?

The top of the mist maker's water sensor must be submerged at least 0.5 inches below the surface. If the water level drops too low, the mist maker will automatically power off to protect the internal ultrasonic disc from damage.

2. How do I know when it's time to change the ceramic diffusion plate?

When you notice a significant decrease in fog volume despite maintaining proper water levels, or if the disc shows severe mineral crusting, it is time to replace the diffusion plate using the included key.

3. Can I run the UNS Atomizer continuously on a timer?

Yes! Running the atomizer on a digital timer or smart plug (for example, 15 to 30 minutes several times a day) is an excellent way to maintain ideal humidity cycles for sensitive mosses, ferns, and tropical epiphytes without oversaturating your soil.
