Additional Information
- All natural driftwood leaches tannins, creating a temporary yellow or brown "tea-stained" tint. Ancient Wood leaches a heavy amount of tannins for the first 20–40 days. We highly recommend performing frequent water changes during the first few weeks.
- Driftwood is naturally buoyant and will float initially. To ensure your showpiece stays in place, you can submerge the wood in a separate container until it is fully waterlogged. Alternatively, boiling the wood for 1–2 hours not only speeds up the process but also helps release tannins and sterilizes the piece.
- You can secure the wood using aquarium-safe glue or weigh it down with a large stone or heavy décor until it remains submerged naturally.
- Shortly after submersion, a white biofilm may develop on the wood; this is a natural bacterial growth that will disappear on its own or be eaten by shrimp and algae-eaters.
- We always recommend rinsing your wood thoroughly with fresh water before adding it to an established aquarium, terrarium, or enclosure to remove any surface dust or debris.
