Eleocharis Vivipara, commonly referred to as Umbrella Hair Grass, is a popular and striking background plant in the planted tank hobby. As its common name implies, this species grows tall and slender, eventually arching over near the surface to create a graceful, flowing canopy across the top of the water. Because it grows quite large, it makes an exceptional background centerpiece for medium and larger aquariums. However, it can also be kept in smaller nano tanks with routine trimming to keep its vertical growth in check.

Care & Planting Instructions

• Ensure you thoroughly wash away or soak off the nutrient gel from the roots with your fingers before dividing and planting.
• Space small portions roughly one inch apart, burying the roots halfway into the substrate to encourage quick root establishment. 
• Provide medium to high lighting; while it tolerates lower light, adequate lighting prevents pale stems and promotes thicker growth. 
• While it isn't required, CO2 injection and good lighting will encourage faster growth.
• Trim vertical blades regularly if you wish to control its overall height or prevent it from shading low-growing foreground plants.
