Formed by the rapid cooling of magma, Black Lava Rock is an extremely porous natural stone that is dark black in color and remarkably lightweight. Its surface area acts as a massive biological filter, providing ample space for beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonize and improve the aquarium's overall health. These rocks are also suitable for non-aquarium use and will work beautifully as a structured accent in terrariums, paludariums, or similar planted enclosures.

Might I ask what size the holes are, diameter wise?: The hole is half an inch. It is not hollow all the way through.
