Seiryu Stone is the undisputed "Godfather" of all stones and the pinnacle of aquascaping materials. As one of the most popular hardscape options available, this grey-blue natural rock is prized for its jagged, craggy, and heavily veined texture that deepens in color when wet. Its silver-gray tones and rough, weathered surfaces make it an incredible focal point, ideal for creating dramatic, natural-looking mountain-style landscapes or minimalist Iwagumi layouts. The endless details found in these stones allow any hobbyist to easily recreate the complexity of nature. Boutique Seiryu is also suitable for non-aquarium use and will work beautifully as a sophisticated accent in terrariums, paludariums, or similar planted enclosures.

Stones vary in shape, size, and density.

Notes:

  • Seiryu may slightly raise pH and water hardness. Controsoil can help balance that out.
  • We recommend rinsing stones thoroughly before use to remove any natural dust or sediment.
  • Stone coloration darkens when wet.

Overall rating: 4.7244096 / 5 from 127 reviews.

Reviews

So glad I ordered from this company

"The stones that I received were way higher than my expectations. I really feel these stones were handpicked to make a badass aquascape. That large stone on the left is honestly what makes this whole tank. The colors, the textures, shapes and sizes are so beautiful. Highly recommend. This is my 10 gallon tank. Plants are from Buce Plants as well. Not cheap, but well worth it."

"Stones look great for the 5 gallon aquarium I'm putting it in."

Seiryu Stone

"Received the 20 lb. box of Boutique Seiryu stone. Im a bit disappointed in the size of the rocks. One is 9", one 6" , a couple 4" and the rest basically rubble to make it 20 lbs. I have a 48 gal. tank to set up. I can use this rock, but I need much bigger rocks for a Cichlid tank."

Good variety at great price

"Got a good variety of stones. For an online order that I didn’t pick myself it’s definitely worth it. Price is HALF of what my local fish store charges for the same stone!!!"

— Pat P. (5/5)

Never got it! Lost in

"Never got it! Lost in shipping! 3 stars because the buce team was quick to issue the refund! Boo to the carrier though who took my package to the wrong house"

— Ryan S. (3/5)

Love them

"So in love with these stones. Got the 5lb box and it still has some good sizes and shapes. Cant wait to see what my tank looks like in a few months filled in with the stones and some plants. Definitely rinse first though"

— Naee (5/5)

Fantastic

"Definitely exceeded my expectations! If you’re wondering if you’re going to get a good looking piece of wood then don’t worry, they have you covered."

Q&A

I wash my stones many times because the water came black. Is normal
Hi Isabel, Thank you for your question! The stones may need to be rinsed multiple times to remove all residual particles. Please reach out to our team at support@buceplant.com for additional assistance. Best regards, Team Buce Plant
Hi - I buy a lot of plants from you. Great quality! I am looking to by some Boutique Seiryu Stone, but I want thinner pieces, maybe no more than a 2 - 4” thick. I need one large piece and about 6 medium sized pieces (6 or 7 inches long). Do you have anything? Would love to have the boutique, but will take regular seiryu stone too…
Hi Sarah, Thank you for reaching out. Please email us at support@buceplant.com so that we can further help you with your request. Best regards, Buceplant Team
Hey I have a 30 gallon tank and I want to buy this set of stones, which weight would be best for me? (looking for an iwagumi aesthetic so large stones for sure, was thinking the 30 lb edition). Tank dimensions are 30.25 x 12.5 x 18.75 inches
Hi FS, Thank you for reaching out to us. 30lbs of rock is a good amount to start as this will give you different pieces to scape with. You may need to break the rocks accordingly to help them fit your scape. Feel free to reach out to us at support@buceplant.com for any additional questions or concerns. We are happy to help! Best Regards, Buceplant Team
Can u send me a picture of the stones before I get it? I’m probably going to get 20-30lbs. I need stone that has a lot of layers or lines.
Hi JT, Thank you for reaching out to us, we are happy to help. Unfortunately at this time we are unable to send pictures of products to our customers.
