Common Name: Staurogyne sp Bihar

Staurogyne Sp. Bihar is a relatively rare find within the worldwide aquarium hobby, especially with its limited availability in European counties. This aquatic plant was originally identified as a Hygrophila species, but upon seeing its flowering abilities, it was reidentified as a Staurogyne species. When grown submerged, this aquatic plant is said to resemble the popular favorite, Hygrophila Pinnatifida. It boasts beautiful color varieties from deep green to reddish brown.  If you enjoy lush aquatic vegetation and want something different than your average Hygrophila species this would be an excellent addition to your planted tank.

Beautiful plant for a low-tech tank

"This is a really beautiful plant with soft green leaves and pale undersides. I much prefer it in my low-tech tank where it has grown into a small bush. In my high-tech tank, it grows very fast with longer nodes and more visible stem. It does seem to be a potassium hog, though, and needs supplemental root tabs."

Good looking plant

"This looked very nice when I got it. It turned out to be a good plant for the tank after it was done melting down. For me, it melted down as if it was a Crypt. That doesn’t mean it would happen that way for someone else. My parameters in my tank are extremely precise due to shrimp living in the tank. I do believe if I would’ve had the water more on the acidic side, it would’ve did a little better. After a month of it being in the tank, it does look really good."

No roots

"Disappointed by the fact that these were un rooted cuttings and not rooted plants. Plants were also rather small and dropped a good portion of their leaves in shipping."

Fast Grower

"I rinsed and planted these cuttings right away and they’ve already rooted and grown two sets of leaves in just a few days. Good midground filler."
