Common Name: S. Repens

Staurogyne Repens is a low growing aquatic plant that originates from South America. The leaves are small, spade shaped, and light green in color. S. Repens grows compactly and if given sufficient lighting and nutrients can grow into a thick bush of green foliage. Each stem will only grow up a few inches in height. Due to its growth pattern, S. repens is commonly used as a foreground or midground plant.

S. repens is an adaptable plant that can be grown in both submerged and emersed environments. Be sure to allow adequate time for the plants to transition. High lighting and Co2 injection is necessary to keep this plant low growing. Vertical growing thin stalks are an indication of lack of lighting while yellowing leaves can mean nutrition deficiency. Thin leaves can also hint at a lack of Co2. This plant can grow quickly and require regular trimming when kept under proper conditions. Trimmings can be replanted as a form of propagation.

Notes:

  • Staurogyne Repens is a great coverage plant, commonly used as a foreground or midground plant
  • Staurogyne Repens can be grown in both submerged and emersed environments
  • Tissue culture plants are grown in vitro from a state of the art laboratory specialized in propagating aquatic plants. They provide the best option for those who want to ensure that absolutely zero unwanted pests are introduced into the aquarium.
  • Remove tissue culture gel before planting.  Simply wash the gel away or soak the plant in water and squeeze the gel off with your fingers.
  • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.

Reviews

50% Happy

"The Staurogyne Repens arrived looking great - the Vallisneria Spiralis not so much. Over half the leaves were brown on arrival. Planted immediately and added root tabs. Now getting spome leaf melt, too - am praying they come back."

— MICHAEL M. (3/5)

Terrible condition

"Plant was just put in the shipping container loose amongst the hard containers (tools, fertilizers, etc). Arrived in really bad shape, banged up and squished. Customer service is terrible, Buceplant doesn't honor it's policies and expects the customer to pay for the company's mistakes. Shop elsewhere. Dansfish. com and aquarium coop are way better businesses. Super disappointed with Buceplant"

— Danielle Z. (1/5)

S Repens

"Arrived super healthy, strong stems, only one or two broken leaves and stems. Could’ve had more root growth but they still look amazing."

Great foreground/middleground plant

"So satisfied with the Staurogyne Repens I recieved. Totally healthy and immediately took to my aquarium well. Looking very healthy. Thank you again to Buce plant my whole aquarium has been stocked by your products. Everything is thriving."

— Zachary G. (5/5)

Arrived in good shape, settled in and is beautiful

"I’ve always liked the look of S. Repens. It arrived in good shape. I planted it as a bunch in the middle of my tank, and it has gotten lush and bushy in my high-tech setup in just a few weeks. I’d love to have a carpet of it, but propagating stems plans across an entire large tank seems like a lot of work. But maybe now that I see it, the work might be worth it."
