Common Name: Piptospatha Ridleyi

Piptospatha Ridleyi is a rare plant, that belongs in the same family as Bucephalandras. Originating from Borneo, these plants are able to grow in both submerged and emerged environment. If grown above water, be sure to provide high humidify to prevent the leaves from drying. The leaves of Piptospatha Ridleyi are elongated with a dark green coloration. Unique light green marking run throughout the leaf.

Being a slow grower Piptospatha Ridleyi prefers low to moderate light. High lighting may cause algae to grow on the leaves. Care should be taken when planting Piptospatha Ridleyi into a tank. This plant is best grown attached to wood, rocks, or above substrate. Be sure to avoid burying the rhizome, if buried the plant will suffocate, melt, and eventually die.

Notes:

  • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
  • Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot. Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into a quality substrate. For instructions on how to properly prep "potted" aquarium plants, click here.
