Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does Cyperus Helferi require CO2 injection?
No, CO2 is not strictly required for Cyperus Helferi. It is an undemanding plant that can grow in low-tech setups, though adding pressurized CO2 and moderate-to-high light will significantly aid its naturally slow growth rate.
2. Why are the leaf tips of my Cyperus Helferi melting or turning brown?
Leaf tip browning is most commonly caused by elevated water temperatures above 80°F (27°C) or insufficient lighting. Keeping water temperatures cool and ensuring clean, unobstructed lighting will maintain bright green foliage.
3. How do I propagate Cyperus Helferi?
As Cyperus Helferi matures, it produces new plantlets around the base of its root system. Simply separate these mature daughter plantlets along with their attached roots using sharp scissors and replant them into the substrate.

"Zero roots. Worried this beautiful sedge might not make it. Generous portion."
Plants came in just two
"Plants came in just two days. Even though very hot weather they came through in good shape. Nice looking plants. Thanks Buceplant."
"Little bit of plant melt, but hoping they pull through"
Happy customer
"Received in good condition two weeks ago. I would recommend maybe buying a little more than you need because approximately 40% died off, but I see the surviving ones putting out new shoots. One even has a runner emerging. Some plants inherently transplant better than others."
nice plants
"Plants shipped to me about 10"-12" tall, they are in good shape and look good in my tank. . . ."
I don’t like to leave bad reviews…it happens sometimes
"I don’t like to leave bad reviews. I am leaving 5 stars because I like Buce Plant and have had good success with them in the past. If I reviewed this plant I would give ZERO stars. It didn’t acclimate and melted 100% and caused a serious ammonia spike in my tank and killed some Green Neon Tetras and Red King Kong Shrimp :( . I have been keeping planted tanks for 15+ years so I know this can happen. Again I still like Buce Plant so I won’t leave a bad review. I just wish other people would know and understand that this happens at times no matter what. Too bad because I really like Cyperus Helferi and have kept it in the past many times with success."
The Cyperus Helferi was brownish
"The Cyperus Helferi was brownish upon delivery. I removed the worst of the brown/dead leaves and planted. But I don't think the plants will rebound. Other plants (Bucephelandras, Java Ferns) were fine. I had seen other Cyperus Helferi reviews from others reporting similar brown plants, but took a chance."
Looking cool in the background, some die-off and browning
"I added these along with several other plants to a new scape and they are struggling a little. I am running a hi-tech setup with CO2 and quality lighting. Hoping they survive because they look super cool in the background."
Our loaches keep digging it
"Our loaches keep digging it up but so far it makes a good floating plant. LOL"
The size was pretty nice
"The size was pretty nice but it was looking pretty bad after a few days. 95% of the ones I got all died within a few days. The ones left aren't looking good at all."
