Plant Profile
Common Name: Bucephalandra Kedagang Round Mini
Buce ‘Kedagang Mini Round’ is a vibrant, low-tech aquarium plant featuring smaller and narrower leaves than the normal Kedagang Round. This variety originates from the Kedagang region of Borneo and is highly prized for its compact size, which allows for superior plant-to-scape scaling in small environments. Highly versatile, it can be grown submerged or emersed, usually attached to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks rather than being buried in traditional aquarium substrate. It's a great pick for the foreground of freshwater aquascapes, where its petite stature creates a dense, detailed colony within a planted tank.
By choosing the Tissue Culture version of this plant, you are guaranteed a 100% pest-free, algae-free, and pesticide-free start for your aquarium. These plants are grown in-vitro in a sterile laboratory setting, ensuring no unwanted snails or hitchhikers enter your system. While these plantlets start smaller than potted versions and require more time to mature, they offer the cleanest and most reliable method for establishing a healthy Bucephalandra colony in planted tanks.
Key Features & Notes
- With consistent care and time, the tiny leaves mature into a rich, jewel-toned palette of red and purple that contrasts sharply against green mosses.
- As a "mini" variant, it is one of the best species for creating a sense of massive scale in small nano tanks or for detailing intricate crevices in large hardscapes.
- This is one of the most durable species in the hobby and thrives in shaded areas. It is an ideal choice for aquascapes where other plants might struggle.
- It is perfectly at home fully submerged in an aquarium or emersed in high-humidity terrariums, vivariums, and paludariums.
Care Tips & Preparation
- Carefully remove the plantlets from the cup and rinse away the sterile nutrient gel under lukewarm, dechlorinated water before mounting. For instructions on how to properly plant tissue culture aquarium plants, click here.
- Bucephalandra is an epiphytic plant that should be attached to rocks or driftwood. Never bury the rhizome in substrate, as this will cause the plant to rot and melt.
- Avoid making drastic changes to your water parameters or lighting. Unstable conditions are the primary cause of leaf melt in new aquarium plants.
- While hardy, CO2 injection and quality water flow will yield much faster and more robust plant growth during the transition phase.
- Final size and coloration depend entirely on your specific aquarium conditions.

Great quality
"Came in great shape. A little tossed around in the nutrient gel but typical on shipped Tissue cultures. Didn’t lose a single Buce."
"Great Quality better than expected!"
Awesome little plants
"This was my first experience with tissue culture. I ordered the larger cup and the cup had 5 little plants of varying sizes. There was a little damage from shipping but nothing extreme. I took a few weeks to acclimate them - first to the light (still sealed in the cup) then cleaned off and planted into the cup for awhile before moving into my terrariums. The largest ones really took off and are making beautiful blue-green leaves. They like sitting on wood hardscape that I keep damp. The smaller ones struggled a bit and probably should have got a little more time in the cup before removal, but I think they will be ok. I'm totally obsessed with them and want to order another cup!"
Always Amazing!
"My second time ordering from Buce and my second time being completely satisfied with my order. I also panicked when my complex put my package elsewhere and the support from Buce was incredible. These plants are so fresh, healthy, well packed, and a great quality. The leaves were all intact, with new growth coming in."
This is my favorite plant of all of them
"I adore this plant in my 8 gallon planted bowl. This is my first aquarium and I kept messing around with the parameters as I was setting it up. I have had plant melt from the stem plants and lots of brown moss but this one just keeps looking incredible. it looks magical and has been super forgiving of a newbie."
