Hemigraphis Repandra Green, also known as Green Dragon's Tongue, is a perennial shrub that grows up to 10 inches in height if given the correct care. Its leaves are bright green in color and are rippled, providing an attractive texture in a terrarium-like setup that is comparable to a grassy plant with the potential to sprout small white flowers. This terrarium plant should be grown in bright, indirect light and in a substrate that is well-drained.

Q&A

Can this plant's roots be planted below water as long as the stems and leaves are above water or does it need to be planted terrestrially to prevent death? IE, if I have a shallow tank and plant the roots submerged 1-2" below-water in the controsoil substrate with the stems and leaves fully emersed, will I be killing the plant?

We keep the roots submerged in controsoil and water, while the stem and leaves are kept above the water. We recommend keeping them in a humid environment for the first few weeks and slowly transition them to the ambient humidity.
