Common names: Spikemoss

Selaginella Pulvinata is an intriguing evergreen perennial that features densely tufted stems and unique curling fronds. Its sems range from 4-15cm long and branch near the base to form rosette-like clusters. Over time, its stems and roots entangle to create a tree-like appearance that's great for planted setups, terrariums and more. Native to limestone rocks, this species is hardy and is sometimes considered drought-resistant, once established, making it a great pick for a range of setups. One of its most fascinating trait is its response to moisture: when dry, young fronds curl tightly, turning yellowish-brown like tiny claws or miniature cypress trees; when moistened, the fronds reopen and regain their vibrant green color.

Notes:

  • This is not an aquarium plant. Submerging it completely will result in the death of this plant.
  • Selaginella Pulvinata works well in terrarium-like setups and should be partially shaded with good humidity.
  • Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into quality soil. For instructions on how to properly prep aquarium plants, click here.
  • Yellowing of leaves indicates overwatering.
  • Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
