River Driftwood
River Driftwood is a dark, naturally shaped driftwood with long, irregular forms that are great for creating depth and movement in your aquascape. Its twisted branches and weathered texture can be arranged into root systems, forest-style layouts, or layered wood structures. The dark coloration pairs especially well with bright green plants, mosses, and epiphytes, giving your hardscape a natural, aged look.
Product Features & Benefits
- Each piece has its own natural shape, so no two pieces will create exactly the same hardscape.
- The darker surface makes lighter-colored epiphytes, mosses, and substrate stand out.
- Its open structure leaves plenty of areas for attaching plants without completely covering the character of the wood.
- Multiple pieces can be combined to create larger, more complex structures as your aquascape grows.
- A versatile choice for planted aquariums, paludariums, and other naturalistic setups.

Preparation & Care
Driftwood is a natural product and requires a bit of prep before it’s ready for prime time.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
- The Floating Phase: Depending on the size, River Driftwood will float a little initially. We recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged.
- Tannin Management: While low in tannins, a quick boil can help fast-track the sinking process and ensure your water stays crystal clear. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag
Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1–2 hours to help release tannins.
