Black Lava Rock is a highly porous natural rock that is widely used for both lush planted tanks and African Cichlid setups. This lightweight stone features a color palette ranging from black to gray, offering a rugged aesthetic for any hardscape. The extreme porosity of this natural stone makes it an excellent addition to your aquarium filtration system, as the millions of tiny holes provide massive surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize. Its coarse texture also makes it a perfect pick for anchoring mosses, ferns, and other epiphytic plants. Black Lava Rock is also suitable for non-aquarium use and will work beautifully as a textured accent in terrariums, paludariums, or similar planted enclosures.

You will receive 15LB per order. Sizes cannot be mixed and matched at this time.

Notes:

  • Smaller pieces may be slightly buoyant due to their high porosity.
  • This stone is inert and will not alter water parameters.
  • We recommend rinsing stones thoroughly before use to remove any natural dust or sediment.
  • Stone coloration darkens when wet.

What kind of glue are you using to glue the plant to the hardscape? Is it just "crazy glue" or some special aquarium friendly glue? Will it harm fish or shrimp?

Is this type of lava rock completely inert?

Hi, I am wondering how many rocks typically come per package size? More specifically, how many rocks will I get with an 18 lbs purchase? I know with natural item sizes vary, what is the largest size you sell? I am looking for 8"+ hoping to lean towards the larger side to cover the most distance with as few purchases as possible.
