Way too strong for small tanks with thin glass

"Aesthetically this is a great little magnet encased in acrylic, quite stylish. But the magnet is simply too strong to be used on the very small tanks with thin glass that it is supposedly intended for. I bought it specifically to use on a 2.5 gallon tank but after a single experience with it decided it's not suited for that. It will work fine on larger tanks, but I'll need to purchase a different solution for the 2.5 gallon."
