Christmas Moss and Java Fern on Driftwood
Plant Profile
This plug-and-play aquarium plant decor is moss-definitely the easiest way to upgrade your tank! We have pre-attached a lush, velvety coat of classic Christmas Moss and a hardy, broad-leafed Java Fern directly onto a beautiful piece of natural driftwood. Because both of these low-light legends are famously bulletproof and practically care for themselves, you get to drop a mature, established piece straight into your tank. It provides a fantastic, highly textured sanctuary where shy fish and dwarf shrimp can safely forage.
Key Features & Benefits
- Arrives pre-attached to a natural wood base, allowing you to bypass the stressful planting stage and instantly anchor a mature, two-in-one focal point in your tank.
- Combines the delicate, feathery, tree-like fronds of Christmas Moss with the bold, thick leaves of Java Fern for an instant boost in visual depth and contrast.
- The organic driftwood slowly releases beneficial tannins that naturally soften the water, mimicking wild tropical blackwater habitats that soft-water loving fish thrive in.
Care & Planting Instructions
- Position the driftwood piece directly onto your substrate or nestle it securely into your current hardscape layout, keeping the thick green Java Fern rhizome completely exposed to the water column to prevent rot.
- Weigh down the driftwood with a clean rock for the first few days if it is not fully waterlogged yet and tries to float.
- Maintain stable aquarium parameters and avoid making rapid, drastic water changes to protect both the fern and the moss from melting.
- Trim back the moss occasionally with sharp aquascaping shears to keep it compact and to prevent it from slowly shading out the slower-growing fern.
- Propagate your layout down the road by cleanly cutting the Java Fern along its thick rhizome, or by simply snipping and relocating small clumps of the thriving moss.
