Forest Driftwood is a versatile wood in the world of aquarium hardscaping. It offers a distinct, earthy texture that sets it apart from more rounded varieties. With a natural color palette ranging from warm beiges to deep browns, its relatively flat profile makes it a great pick for building more intricate planted aquarium hardscape structures.

Product Features and Benefits

  • Stackable "Base" Wood: It is the ideal aquarium wood for creating cliff-like shelves or stable platforms to elevate your secondary hardscape.
  • Crevice-Rich Surface: Naturally filled with nooks and crannies, this wood is a perfect host for epiphytic plants. Tucking the rhizomes of Anubias or Bucephalandra into these crevices is simple and results in a highly realistic, "overgrown" look.
  • Natural Texture: The weathered, rugged surface adds immediate maturity to any driftwood aquarium, providing a sense of age and stability to your layout.
  • Scalable Sizing: From nano-tanks to massive showstoppers, the wide range of available sizes ensures you can find the perfect fit for any project.

Preparation and Care
Driftwood is a natural product and requires a bit of prep before it’s ready for prime time.

  1. Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
  2. The Floating Phase: Like many woods, these pieces may float initially. We recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged.
  3. Tannin Release: Like most aquarium driftwood, this will release tannins, giving your water a warm, "tea-colored" tint. This is a natural occurrence, and the effects will subside over time. If you prefer crystal-clear water, a 1–2 hour boil is the best way to fast-track the process. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag

Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1-2 hours to help release tannins.
