Ludwigia Inclinata var. Verticillata 'Pantanal'
Common Name: Ludwigia Inclinata ' Pantanal'
Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata 'Pantanal' is an orange-red variety of Ludwigia inclinata. It’s a fast-growing stem plant with delicate reddish leaves radiating from a central stem. Native to South America, it’s been part of the aquarium hobby for years, but due to its high care requirements, it’s less popular than other easier-to-grow colored plants. Ludwigia 'Pantanal' is best suited as a centerpiece or background plant, but it grows rapidly when kept in ideal conditions. This fast growth can make it tricky to maintain in aquascapes, as the size and shape of the plant will constantly change with regular pruning.
This plant requires high light, soft water, nutrients and CO2 injection to grow well. It is a finicky plant and will quickly show signs when conditions are not optimal or changed. The plant can be grown submersed or emersed. If successful, propagation can be achieved by taking cuttings from the main stem of the plant that are replanted into the substrate.
Notes:
- Ludwigia can be grown both submerged or emersed. You may receive this plant in its emersed or submerged form depending on availability and seasonality. Click to learn more about Emersed vs. Submerged-Grown Aquatic Plants for Aquascaping.
- Ludwigia can be very fragile. Be sure to handle this aquarium plant with care.
- Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
- Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into a quality substrate. For instructions on how to properly prep aquarium plants, click here.
- CO2 injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
- Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
