Manzanita is a beloved, branchy type of aquarium driftwood that is perfect for adding fine, natural detail to your layout. With their delicate, spindly limbs, these versatile pieces are the premier choice for DIY moss trees, intricate root-like depth, or adding subtle texture to a larger aquarium hardscape. Whether you're building a nano tank or layering complex details into a massive planted display, this aquascaping wood makes it easy to weave a sense of organic growth and delicate precision right into your underwater landscape.

Product Features & Benefits

  • Manzanita’s naturally thin and twisting limbs allow you to create intricate "tree-top" effects or complex root systems without cluttering your aquarium hardscape.
  • Unlike the heavier "forbidden tea" leaching of other woods, Manzanita is much lighter in tannin content. It’s perfect for hobbyists who want the wood look without a significant shift in water color.

Size Specifications

Photos provided are a representation of what you will receive. This is a natural aquarium hardscape product; please expect variations in shape, weight, and character.

  • Small: 8-10 inches
  • Medium: 12-15 inches

Preparation & Care

A little extra prep goes a long way in maintaining its stunning appearance.

  1. Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
  2. The Floating Phase: Depending on the size, Manzanita will float a little initially. We recommend soaking it thoroughly or boiling it. A large stone or heavy decor may be placed on top to ensure a non-waterlogged piece of wood stays submerged.
  3. Tannin Control: If you want zero tint in your water, a quick 1-hour boil will fast-track the sinking process and remove any remaining surface tannins. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag

Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1–2 hours to help release tannins.
