Myriophyllum Aquaticum 'Roraima' UNS Tissue Culture
Common Name: Myriophyllum sp. 'Roraima', Water Milfoil
Myriophyllum Aquaticum 'Roraima', also known as Watermilfoil, is a beautiful cultivar that is particularly well-suited for larger aquariums. It is a fine-leafed aquatic stem plant that stands out easily with its vivid color and feathery texture. When grown in optimal conditions, the submerged form displays shades ranging from orange and yellow to deep brownish-red tones that are sure to contrast well with a variety of aquarium plant colors. It is a fast-growing variety and on the easier side when compared to other plants in the same family. Its many whorls provides a great effect in the background when planted in groups and it will tolerate a wide range of parameters.
While Roraima has no strict care requirements and will grow even in medium-hard water and without supplemental CO₂, it grows the best under strong lighting, a full supply of macro- and micronutrients in the water column, and CO2 injection. If provided, it exhibits its most vibrant colors and prolific growth. Frequent trimming is often necessary, but pruning will encourage a fuller, more compact form. Propagation is straightforward through head cuttings or by replanting trimmed side shoots.
Notes:
- Pruning will be required to ensure other plants are not shaded from lighting.
- Myriophyllum species makes a great midground or background filler plant choice!
- Relatively hardy and adaptable to a range of aquarium parameters.
- CO2 injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
- Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
