Common Name: Downoi
Downoi is a low growing aquatic plant originating from Thailand that has become popular in the past several years. Its a midground plant that if given sufficient lighting and nutrients can grow into a thick bush of green foliage. This plant has a unique appearance, with long and wavy leaves that almost resemble Buce Catherinae types. It can grow both emersed and submerged.
Downoi is not considered hard to grow as long as you have sufficient lighting. CO2 is not absolutely necessary to keep the plant alive but it does allow it to thrive. Side shoots will develop as the plant matures. Propagation is simple, just cut any side shoots or along the stem and replant

Pogostemon Helferi 'Downoi' Aquatic Farmer Tissue Culture
"Out of the cup, the plant looked clean, compact, and free of pests or algae — typical of good tissue culture stock. Which Buce Plant always provides… The rosette of leaves was quite tight, and the plantlets were small but healthy. There was minimal “melt” compared to many tissue culture shipments, which is a good sign (especially for a delicate plant). Over time, the Downoi developed its characteristic puckered, crinkled texture on leaves, giving it a slightly alien/star-like look — quite unique among foreground plants. The “Downoi” form tends to remain lower and more compact than some other Pogostemon helferi strains, which suits it well for foreground carpeting in high-end planted tanks."

"Well little over a week and all melted away. Unsure what my problem is. Following many tips and tricks from all sources. Have a little rhizome left, looks rotten going to try to see if it will resurrect itself being glued to a rock this time. Not holding my breath though, looks dead. Should have gone with a potted adult since my tank is already going and very sparse. The babies just didn't survive. They make a Betta planted tank look so easy, instead I'm pulling my hair out as I see my investment just melt week by week. Not having fun anymore 😭"
Absolutely beautiful
"Amazing!!!"

"The tissue cultures are establishing well even in the absence of CO2 injection"
