Razor blades are engineered for glass aquariums. Using metal blades on acrylic tanks carries a high risk of surface scratching. We recommend using dedicated acrylic-safe plastic blades or scrapers for acrylic panels.
3. How do I prevent scratching my glass when scraping near the substrate line?
Stop the blade about 0.5 inches above the substrate level to prevent trapping sand or aquasoil grains under the blade. Trapped sand pushed against glass is the leading cause of scratches during maintenance.
