SL-Aqua Nature Soil from Japan is made from the highest quality 100% natural raw materials, sintered into a porous and granular structure that helps maintain a stable, healthy, and clear water for a long period of time. It provides essential minerals and trace elements, which promote the health and growth of shrimp, it also contains organic acids and multi-nutrient fertilizers, which can bring the pH and KH level down when using RO water.
It is particularly suited to soft water bee shrimp species, such as Crystal Red/Black, Taiwan Bees (Red Wine, Black King Kong, and Blue Bolts) Shadow Shrimp, etc.

"I'm using the Benetay method of using an inert substrate but adding aqua soil to the tank using bags (although he uses baskets that hang on the tank). This way I don't have to worry about resetting the tank whenever the pH starts to climb; I simply just swap out the old with new soil. So far, the Sl Aqua Soil buffers the pH at around 6. 0 which is lower than Amazonia Ver. 2 and Fluval Stratum (those only buffered down to 6. 4). And yes, I'm using RO/DI water. Recommended!"
