The Blue Rili Shrimp is known for its unique color pattern, featuring a sophisticated combination of deep, midnight-blue and dark carbon-black tones, often separated by crystal-clear translucent sections. This pattern creates a dynamic, high-contrast look that pops brilliantly against bright green aquatic plants and lighter substrates. Each individual's pattern is slightly different, giving your colony a diverse and natural feel.

These freshwater shrimp are highly adaptable to a wide range of water parameters, making them one of the best choices for beginner shrimp keepers or community clean-up crews. They are tireless scavengers, spending their day grazing on biofilm, algae, and organic debris. Their active personalities and striking colors make them a functional and aesthetic staple for any freshwater aquascape.

Breeding
Blue Rili Shrimp are eager and prolific breeders. Sexing becomes straightforward at maturity; females are notably larger and display a visible "saddle" behind the head where eggs are stored. To ensure a thriving and self-sustaining colony, we recommend starting with 8–10 specimens to guarantee a mix of males and females.

The breeding cycle begins when a fertile female molts and releases pheromones, triggering the males into an active mating search. Once "berried," she carries the eggs for approximately 2–3 weeks. The fry hatch as fully formed, miniature versions of the adults. Always leave molted shells in the tank; the colony will consume them to recycle essential minerals like calcium for their next growth stage.
